Overview
This book publication explored Irish lighthouses with the goal of celebrating, commemorating, and honouring these iconic structures. As a typographic project, it focused on key editorial elements such as grid design, margins, type selection, leading, kerning, binding, and printing, ensuring that every detail contributed to a cohesive and impactful narrative.
Process
The project involved research, concept development, and typographic design, focusing on hierarchy and visual distinction. The main challenge was balancing intricate typography with readability, ensuring the design enhanced the narrative without overwhelming the content, especially in print, where adjustments to typography and binding were crucial.
Results
The book was recognised for its excellence in design and selected by the ISTD (International Society of Typographic Designers) as one of their approved books, a testament to its successful balance of intricate typographic details, printing, and clarity. As a result, I was awarded membership to the organisation.
